OFF COURT - BONNE NOUVELLE !

    Chers fans,

Swiss superstar Roger Federer Roger Federer and his long-time girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec announced on Thursday that they are expecting their first child this summer.

"I have some really awesome news to share with all of you," the 27-year-old Swiss told his official website. "Mirka and I are excited to let you know that we will be parents this summer! Mirka is pregnant and we are so happy to be starting a family."

Federer, currently No. 2 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings, is competing at an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournament in Indian Wells, California.

"This is a dream come true for us," said the 13-time Grand Slam champion. "We love children and we are looking forward to being parents for the first time. Mirka is feeling great and everything is going well."

The couple met when they were both competitors at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Vavrinec reached a career-high No. 76 in the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Rankings (Sept. 10, 2001).

So happy for Roger & Mirka. Maybe it’s the best way the story goes. It is really really hard to admit that he is not at his prime any more, even harder to accept his defeats, and much much heartbreaking to see him crying sadly there in Melbourne… He ought to enjoy life anyway. Félicitations Roger!
